Practice Plus Group Hospitals partners with Scan.com

Barry Nee

Practice Plus Group Hospitals has launched an online diagnostic scan booking service in partnership with Scan.com.

Under the deal, patients can self-refer and book selected diagnostic imaging services, including MRI, CT and ultrasound scans, at Practice Plus Group’s 12 hospital sites across the UK. Alongside available scan options, patients will also be able to see fixed prices before booking.

The service includes a pre-scan telephone consultation with a clinician to complete the safety and clinical checks, diagnostic image and consultant reporting, alongside information about the results and any further care required.

The new service expands Practice Plus Group’s digital booking capability and complements existing partnerships with third-party online platforms, including Doctify, which was introduced to patients earlier this year.

Practice Plus Group Hospitals chief information officer Barry Nee said: ‘Online booking gives patients another way to access diagnostic care, with clear information about the service, availability and price upfront. Importantly, the digital journey sits alongside the clinical support and safeguards patients would expect from a healthcare provider.

‘Our partnership with Scan.com is an early step in developing our online booking capability. We are looking at how we can build on this approach across more of our services and treatments, giving patients and referrers greater choice in how they access and interact with our services.’

Practice Plus Group has been developing its digital capabilities since its acquisition by Narayana Health last year and is exploring how more services can be made available digitally.

Nee added: ‘Digital healthcare should make things easier for patients and our teams, while maintaining the personal and clinical support that sits behind the service.

‘This is the beginning of that journey for Practice Plus Group. We will continue to look at where digital tools can remove unnecessary steps, provide clearer information and give patients greater choice, while allowing our teams to focus their time on delivering high-quality patient care.’
