Semble launches CQC compliance toolkit for private providers

UK healthcare technology company Semble has launched a new online toolkit designed to support private healthcare providers with regulatory compliance as more clinicians enter private practice.

The ‘CQC Companion’ aims to help clinics prepare for inspections by the Care Quality Commission and maintain compliance throughout the year. The launch comes as rising patient demand continues to drive growth in the private market, with increasing numbers of NHS clinicians registering to practise independently.

The toolkit provides step-by-step guidance covering registration, inspection preparation and embedding compliance into day-to-day operations. Developed with input from CQC compliance specialist Gabi Ashton and NHS and private doctor Jonathan Andrews, it includes an inspection-day timeline, self-audit guidance and an online checklist of more than 100 checkpoints structured across nine stages of the private practice journey.

Andrews said: ‘CQC readiness isn’t something that happens overnight. For many clinics, particularly those entering private practice for the first time, preparing for a CQC inspection can feel unfamiliar. Providers may deliver excellent clinical care but be less certain as to how that translates into the governance and documentation inspectors expect.’

Jenny Williams, senior clinical product manager at Semble, said: ‘As a former GP, I’ve seen first-hand the pressure healthcare professionals face when it comes to navigating CQC compliance. It can be time-consuming, difficult to interpret and a real source of stress. At Semble, healthcare professionals we speak to every day are still trying to make sense of a process that often feels overwhelming.

‘The CQC Companion is designed to make that process clearer and more manageable, turning complex regulations into practical, actionable guidance. Ultimately, our goal is to make compliance feel manageable, so providers spend less time deciphering compliance requirements and more time with patients.’
