How do US medical travellers choose a destination?

An academic study has analysed the trade-offs that US outbound travellers make when choosing an overseas health and wellness destination.  It found that cost savings compared to the US, quality of medical care, and the political situation at the destination heavily influenced the decision on destination, and that tourism attractiveness is the least important attribute in choice. Authors Radesh Palakurthi and Frederick DeMicco summarise their findings.
