Association promotes qualified aestheticians in Malaysia

The Malaysian Aesthetic Industry Education and Consumers Association (MAIECA) has been established, to help consumers stay away from unqualified aesthetician practitioners. MAIECA says many consumers have reported being victimised and deceived by low-priced services in cosmetic surgery, treatment and injection.

Certified legitimate medical aesthetic professionals in Malaysia have established the Malaysian Aesthetic Industry Education and Consumers Association (MAIECA). They have also set up a consumer coordination unit to resolve consumers’ complaints related to issues in cosmetic surgery, treatment or injection and to educate consumers to be aware of and guard against marketing gimmicks on social media.

Local estimates suggest that there are 20,000 uncertified aestheticians in comparison to only 200 certified holders of professional qualifications.
