The first graduates of the medical tourism facilitator course of Gulf Medical University have been given their certificates. Gulf Medical University is a private university at Ajman in the UAE.

The course claims to offer medical tourism professionals the requisite skills to act as an agent linking overseas patients to medical providers and solving customer travel, transportation and tourism needs.

The course is not a long degree course but a short weekend one that lasts 90 hours.

The certificate course aims to train the students in different aspects of medical tourism and to develop their skills to perform as an operator and promoter of medical tourism. This course provides information and knowledge on the travel industry, medical facilities and conditions, legal/ethical issues, logistics and hospitality industry.

It costs over £3,000 per student and while it seems a sensible introduction to medical tourism for agents, the certificate is not accepted or regulated by any global body.
