New report from Dubai cosmetic centre

Liposuction and Botox remain at the top of the list of cosmetic surgeries in the Middle East. Report from American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital in Dubai.

Liposuction and Botox remain at the top of the list of cosmetic surgeries in the Middle East, while new ones include lip pigmentation, says a new report, ‘Aesthetic Medicine Market Trends’, from the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital (AACSH), a cosmetic surgery centre in Dubai.

The study looks at leading invasive procedures so far 2016. Most popular are-

  • Liposuction (46 %)
  • Breast surgery (18 %)
  • Abdominoplasty (15 %)
  • Cosmetic gynaecology (11 %)
  • Rhinoplasty (10 %)

Abdominoplasty has overtaken cosmetic gynaecology as in popularity. Patients are looking to new technologies for traditional treatment, with a rise in popularity of stem cell technology – through which patients can harvest their body’s cells to use in the future for treatments such as breast augmentation.

The top non-invasive procedures are

  • Botox and fillers (53 %)
  • Body contouring (17 %)
  • Skin rejuvenation with platelet rich plasma (14 %)
  • Face lift and rejuvenation (9 %)
  • Fat reduction (6 %).

For cosmetic dentistry, lip pigmentation reduction leads the way, accounting for 46% of all dental procedures.

For medical tourists not from within the UAE, 59% of GCC region patients are from Saudi Arabia. Non-UAE international patient numbers by nationality are increasing 20% a year and account for 49 % of patients, with 13% from Mena countries, 12% from GCC countries, 10% from Europe and 14% from elsewhere.

Dr Peter Cruse at The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital says: “Conducting analyses on patient trends are integral for us to grow our services to match patient demand. Although global trends are useful, we adapt services according to our market.”

In 2015 the clinic had 20,000 patents and expects 2016 figures to be up 40%.
