Indonesia’s administration in Bali is looking to further develop health tourism to the island, with regulations and networks to support the industry through new laws due later in 2019.
Bali is an Indonesian island known for its forested volcanic mountains, rice paddies, beaches and coral reefs. The island is known for its yoga and meditation retreats.
Now, the Bali administration is looking to further develop health tourism with regulations and networks to support the industry.
Bali has 3,200 traditional wellness centres, including herbal medicine practices and spas. But only one in ten are compliant with the administration’s standards. The Bali Health Agency will enforce its standards to regulate the industry through a law that is due later in 2019.
The administration also plans to turn the Bali Mandara hospital into a centre or cancer treatment. Bali also has the Sanglah hospital, which specialises in treating heart-related diseases and the Sanjiwani hospital, which is specialised in handling nervous system illnesses.
