A new medical tourism agency in South Africa seeks to encourage Africans to have medical treatment in Africa.
According to iAfrica, Med-Afrique Medical Tours is a new Johannesburg medical tourism agency start up, which is seeking to encourage Africans to have medical treatment in Africa.
Med-Afrique Medical Tours seeks to connect clients across the African continent with affordable and customised cosmetic and medical packages and services in South Africa. It arranges fights and accommodation, interpreters, negotiates treatment prices, and offers drivers for traveling to and from the airport in South Africa.
The company argues that Africans must empower themselves by looking within the African continent for the solutions to their problems and needs. The agency is owned by female nutritionist, Nomfundo Komba.
South Africa is a recognised medical and cosmetic tourism destination, and the agency has partnered with Life Healthcare Group, the largest healthcare group in Southern Africa. With over 65 facilities, it has 8,983 beds, 41 emergency units, 38 maternity units, 12 cardiac units, 305 renal stations, 7 acute rehabilitation units, and 3 Novalis Tx/Varian True-beam radiotherapy units.
Med-Afrique offers medical tourism packages to South Africa for Africans who are self-funded, employee supported or government-funded. Treatment offered includes cosmetic surgery, non-essential surgery, fertility treatment and general check-ups.
