According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), a staggering 2.6 million cases of infertility that have been treated in Mexico, and each year the “number increases by 180,000 cases”. This type of treatment, it is claimed, is now positioned as the third most important source of income for medical tourism activity in Mexico. These reported figures look significantly overinflated however.
