UAE state, Ras Ak Khaimah, does not get the publicity of fellow states Dubai and Abu Dhabi, but has become a tourism destination and a minor medical tourism destination. It is among the latest destinations to sign up to the global safety and hygiene Safe Travels stamp of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).
Raki Phillips, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority CEO said: “We are confident that the Safe Travels stamp will serve as a signal of trust and confidence and will be an opportunity for the city to attract many more visitors. With all these measures in place, we are witnessing an uptick in domestic travel and preparations are well underway to welcome international markets as travel corridors open up. Ras Al Khaimah is proud to work alongside the WTTC to help guide the discussion on this decade defining issue. The GCC’s Stay Safe certification programme has been further amplified by Bureau Veritas, the global leader in risk mitigation.
DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island in Ras Ak Khaimah has been awarded the Stay Safe Certificate from Bureau Veritas, a leading provider in testing, inspection and certification, in recognition of its efforts in health and safety.
The certification underpins the recent partnership between Bureau Veritas and Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) to form the Safeguard Assurance Programme.
The resort has become the first in the emirate to be given the certification, highlighting its current efforts and upcoming Hilton CleanStay drive.
Ras Ak Khaimah is a minor medical tourism destination. A significant number of patients from African countries are regularly referred to RAK Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah for specialised treatment including eye surgery, paediatric care and orthopaedic and laparoscopic surgery
