Stem cell treatment potential in Canada

Realising the potential for stem cell treatment, Canadian clinics target locals who may consider going to China, Mexico or the USA.

Toronto stem cell clinic RegenerVate is targeting Canadians and US citizens for stem cell treatment. It offers a concierge service.

RegenerVate physicians use ultrasound or fluoroscopy (x-ray) machines to locate the injection sites that need the injection. Even hip and shoulder joints can be safely and accurately targeted for precise injection therapy.

The clinic treats chronic pain with injection therapy for-

  • Adipose Derived Stem Cells (ADSC)
  • Bone Marrow Derived Autologous Concentrate (BMAC)
  • Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Clinics in Ontario and Alberta are treating arthritis, joint injuries, disc problems and skin conditions with stem cells taken from patients’ fat tissue or bone marrow.

Researchers are examining stem-cell treatments for many conditions but none of the treatments have been definitively proven effective by science or approved by regulator Health Canada.

Clinics claim treatment is safe and successful, which is why an increasing number of Canadian clinics are offering stem cell treatment.

Health Canada says the vast majority of stem-cell therapies constitute a drug and need to be authorized after a clinical trial or new drug submission. A number of stem-cell trials are underway. Only one treatment Prochymal has been approved, to combat graft-versus-host disease where bone marrow transplants for treating cancer attack the patient’s body; and none of the stem cell clinics are offering this yet.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration aggressively pursues the hundreds of clinics in America, but Health Canada will only react to complaints from the general public.

The Canadian government is funding stem cell research as it admits: “Every year, thousands of Canadians die as a result of cancer, heart conditions, and other medical disorders. Regenerative medicine has emerged as a promising approach to disease prevention and treatment, harnessing the power of stem cells to repair, regenerate, or replace damaged cells, tissues, and organs affected by disease.”
