Bedford Hospital refuses to sign MSK deal without minimum income guarantee

Bedford Hospital Trust has refused to sign a deal, which would see it become a subcontractor in Circle Partnership’s £120m integrated musculoskeletal contract with Bedfordshire CCG after experiencing a marked dip in referrals. The Trust said MSK referrals had fallen by 30% since Circle took over the service in April and that the associated loss of income could have a direct impact on the viability of its trauma service, in turn undermining the ability of A&E to treat patients.
