3,000 new private healthcare locations in Dubai

The number of private medical health facilities in Dubai has risen to over 3,000.

The number of private medical health facilities in Dubai rose above the 3,000 mark during the second quarter of 2017, according to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

This increase includes hospitals, fertility centres, day surgery centres, health centres, pharmacies, diagnostic centres and dental clinics.

Twelve new private hospitals will open in Dubai by 2020, taking the total number of private hospitals in the emirate to 38, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced. This will add 875 beds and another seven hospitals are undergoing expansion to include 750 more beds.

The DHA is working on developing standards and regulations to provide international medical services. An action plan aims to develop private medical facilities through regulation, individual and facility licensing and inspections.

Under the new agreement, all clinics and hospitals in Dubai Healthcare City can apply to open branches in 22 free zones in Dubai.

The move makes it easy for existing health speciality professionals to seek a one-window clearance at DHCC to set up branches in any of these locations.

Professionals from Western Europe and the Americas have set up clinics in DHCC. Quality is an integral component of patient care, and of outpatient standards that are accredited by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua).

The move has been made to boost the already successful medical tourism programme of Dubai and DHCC hopes the new regulations will attract more of the world’s health care professionals to set up shop there.
