Seri Dr Hilmi Yahya of the Ministry of Health says, ” 1000 patients a day go to Penang for medical treatment in private hospitals. “

Ministry figures put medical tourism revenue at RM594 million in 2012 and RM690 million in 2013.The prediction for 2014 is RM700 million.

The Malaysian Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) has launched its lounge and concierge service Penang International Airport (PIA). The one-stop centre in PIA is the second to be set up in this country to boost and develop medical tourism in the region by providing a continuous healthcare travel experience.
