Growing medical travel to Egypt

Karnak International Hospital and health platform Altibbi are each looking to build international patient access to Egypt’s healthcare services.

State run Karnak International Hospital in Luxor is pushing forward with its goal of becoming a key destination for medical tourism in Egypt. A new building housing 62 beds, six operation rooms and four hotel suites has recently been opened.

Developing the hospital is part of a wider initiative titled “Egypt is taking care of you” promoting health and medical tourism.

Meanwhile Jordan-based health platform Altibbi has also opened in Egypt. The service seeks to connect patients with certified doctors, enabling fast, easy and affordable access to healthcare services throughout the country.

Altibbi is planning to provide 2 million consultations in Egypt by the end of the second quarter in 2022. The company’s move into Egypt came as result of collaboration with the Jordanian and Egyptian authorities. Altibbi plans to expand across Africa and the Middle East, particularly for telemedicine.
