Traditional Chinese medicine tours to Beijing

Beijing has launched traditional Chinese medicine tours for foreigners.

The Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development and Chinese tourism service provider Ctrip.com International have launched traditional Chinese medicine tours for foreigners.

TCM tours are gaining popularity among travellers from both inside as well as outside of China. Promoting TCM tourism is part of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development’s efforts in upgrading the travel sector. Beijing has 35 facilities specializing in TCM tours.

Full or half day tours include acupuncture, Tuina (Chinese massage) and pharmacy at a hospital.

English speaking doctors and educators, with easy-to-understand presentations, explain the basic underlying concepts of TCM, its common treatment and integration with western medicine, and modern research in major hospitals of integrative medicine in Beijing. The presentations may involve:

  • Yin/Yang theory in relation to the human body and assessment of conditions
  • TCM etiology and diagnostics, prevention of diseases
  • TCM Internal organ systems, zang-fu organs in relation to the body
  • Channel theory, acupuncture, moxibustion and cupping
  • Chinese herbs, research, possible side effects
