Deal to promote medical travel to Greece

The Greek Health Tourism Council (ELITOUR) and Athens International Airport have signed a deal to promote medical tourism.

The aim is to promote Athens’ advantages in medical tourism and the development of the sector.

The strategic cooperation will work to contribute to the development of the visitor economy in Athens and create economic activity and jobs through tourism in the city, plus to actively contribute to the development of policies and the implementation of actions that will ensure the development of the sector.

International traffic has more than quadrupled at the airport this year, compared to 2021.

Future plans include the creation of specific packages and benefits for medical tourists and the promotion of these packages to foreign airlines. The airport has said it will soon set up a welcome desk for medical tourism.
