“Fall Only in Cayman” focuses on wellness

The Cayman Island Department of Tourism’s annual “Fall Only in Cayman” promotion focuses on wellness tourism this year.

Cayman Islands’ 2019 summer tourism season saw an increase of 10% over 2018, making it the best August on record, with 37,356 people staying overnight in Cayman.

The Department of Tourism has an annual “Fall Only in Cayman” promotion, which this year focuses on wellness products available beyond the sand and sea image. Tourists are offered organic and healthy dining, customisable fitness classes, spa treatments and other healthy lifestyle options.

Local hotels participating in the promotion included The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman which hosts ‘Cayman Rejuvenate’, a mind and body lifestyle festival in early November.

Wellness tourism is growing at a rapid pace where the Latin America and Caribbean region accounts for an estimated 10% of global wellness spending, and some countries want to promote this as wellness tourists spend more than other tourists.

There is strong momentum to develop wellness tourism in Latin America and the Caribbean based on the region’s diverse natural and cultural assets, alongside the motivations of key visitor segments: rest and relaxation; experiencing nature, biodiversity, adventure, active vacations, and ecotourism; and beauty and health tourism.
